DBvis import / export

Dear DBVis support,

We are having to upgrade our dbvisualiser so often. we have been advising users to export the settings before the upgrade takes place and than import once upgrade is complete. is there a way that we can retain the user settings without the export and import functions.

Currently we have dbvis virtualised using appv5 and managed using sccm 2012.

thanks,

Mohi Uddin

Mohi,

Do you use a standard setup whereas user settings are saved in the users home folder under the C:\Users\<user>\.dbvis folder or do you set the -prefsdir DbVisualizer property to point to an alternative settings folder?

HI Roger,

It did not retain the setting after the upgrade.

Mohi,

As I said in my previous response it should not be needed. If you encounter any issues upgrading whereas settings are lost or destroyed please let us know.

Roger

We ask our users to export their settings before the upgrade so they can import those in after the upgrade. this ensures all the settings and configuration remains without having to reconfigure ect.

Mohi,

There is generally no need to export/import user settings when upgrading. What is the reason you need to perform these steps during upgrade?

Regards

Roger
