Pressing Ctrl+Shift+U (to uppercase) does not work on Ubuntu 14.10 with Unity.
Instead, I get an overlay with a small letter U displayed next to the cursor.

This overlay moves around with the cursor when I click around the editor. Pressing escape removes it.
Ctrl+Shift+L (to lowercase) works as expected.

Hi Ivan,
It seems Shift+Ctrl+U on Ubuntu is a special Unicode input capability which is new to us as well:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ComposeKey
The workaround is to assign another key binding for To Uppercase in Tool Properties.
We will look into if it is possible to let the DbVisualizer key binding supersede it.

Re: Shortcut Ctrl+Shift+U doesn't work on Linux
Ah, ok. I was unaware of this. I thought it's something to do with DbVis because the same shortcut works in some other apps like SublimeText.
