Whenever you change the columns in the column chooser for all tabs *but* the Data tab these are saved automatically.
The Data tab is not saved which I assume is the one you are looking for? To change this open DBVIS-HOME\resources\dbvis-custom.prefs and modify:
#dbvis.savedatacolumns=false
to
dbvis.savedatacolumns=true

I've meant Column tab. It's not saved automatically.

This has now been fixed in the just released 9.2.14 version.
Download from http://www.dbvis.com/download/ or use Help->Check for Update to upgrade.
