Allow multiple select from the auto-complete dropdown

For many queries I want to pull a few known fields from one or more tables. I'd like to be able to select more than one field from the auto-complete popup when it appears.

It would use the usual shift-click to select a range and a ctrl-click to add or remove items from the selection.

If, somehow, I manage to change the auto-complete selection criteria while I've got a few fields highlighted, the popup should deselect and lose the fields that don't match my criteria but keep selected matching items selected.

When I accept the selection, the first matching selection should complete my part-typed field and the others should be added after that field.
