When no connection specified, code still executes against recent connection

Connecting to a Sybase dB.. Then I set the Database Connection dropdown box is to [Choose Connection] (in hopes of preventing any further execution in that connection). Code can still be executed against that connection, instead of displaying a warning message that Connection is not specified.... Please address. Thanks.
