How to solve "No JVM could be found in your system" error message?

[This topic is migrated from our old forums. The original author name has been removed]

I'm running Windows 7. Over the w/e I accepted an Oracle Java update to my computer. DbVis 9.0 had worked fine previously. Now, I can not start up DbVis v9. Here's the error message I receive in a popup box. "No JVM could be found in your system. Please define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME to point to an installed 32-bit JDK or JRE or download a JRE from www.java.com" It seems like the latest version of the java.exe is now 7.0.10.8 I have tried to create an environment variable named EXE4J_JAVA_HOME = C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe This attempted solution doesn't appear to work. Any suggestions PLEASE!

Mark, Check the following FAQ entry that explains how to set what JVM DbVisualizer will use: http://www.dbvis.com/doc/faq/#6.4 Regards Roger

Re: How to solve "No JVM could be found in your system" error message?
Roger, thanks for pointing me to the FAQ. I've attempted to create a file named pref_jre.cfg in the .install4j directory based on the FAQ, but it doesn't work. I used this value --> C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7 Still looking for resolution. Please see screen shots

Mark, What installation package for DbVisualizer did you download? You find the installers in this page: http://www.dbvis.com/download/ What is reported if you run the following in a DOS shell: java -version Have you tried re-installing DbVisualizer? Regards Roger
