Upgraded to DBVis 9.0.x and all UI seems to be in "bold" ?

[This topic is migrated from our old forums. The original author name has been removed]

Hi, I've used DBVisualizer for a long time, versions 8.x. Now I formatted my PC and re-installed the same OS I was using: Win7. Installed latest Java 7 and then installed DBVis 9.0.6. My problem is that the UI in dbvis 9 seems to be all in Bold which seems very odd as it's very hard to read everything. Is this some kind of problem or just a normal change in dbvis 9? You can check the example here. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/835/dbvisbold.png/

Hi, The fonts should not be all bold. Check Tools->Tool Properties and the General->Appearance->Fonts category. Click "Defaults" button in the lower left corner, "Revert Selected" and then press Ok and re-start. Does it help? Regards Roger

Tried that and it's the same. Maybe I'm missing some font? java version "1.7.0_21" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_21-b11) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 23.21-b01, mixed mode, sharing)

Hi, What happen if you change the Application font in Tool Properties to a regular (non bold font)? Is the font then still bold after re-start? Regards Roger

Re: Upgraded to DBVis 9.0.x and all UI seems to be in "bold" ?
Ok. I reverted all my settings, closed DBVis. Reopened dbvis and changed my font to Tahoma as you can see here: http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/5081/settingskc.png My UI looks like this: http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/3343/boldu.png For me all the fonts look like they are in bold... or it's just my eyes? Maybe the problem is some anti-aliasing stuff or something like that? This is a fresh Windows 7 installation so maybe I'm still missing something?

Re: Upgraded to DBVis 9.0.x and all UI seems to be in "bold" ?
Same issue for me... * Windows XP SP3 32bit * JDK 1.7.0_21 * DBVis 9.0.6 By changing the L&F theme from 'Windows' to other themes (eg. 'Metal'), many texts are back to normal but there are still texts in bold. However I'd really like to stick to 'Widnows' theme.

Re: Upgraded to DBVis 9.0.x and all UI seems to be in "bold" ?
Hi, The problem seem to be related to Java 7 (potentially in combination with the system setup). To confirm it would be great if you can try this with Java 6. Easiest is to download the installer that include Java 6. http://www.dbvis.com/download/ The following post in another forum describe a similar problem: https://www.java.net//forum/topic/javadesktop/java-desktop-technologies/swing-awt/swing-all-fonts-suddenly-bold Please let me know the progress. Re: Upgraded to DBVis 9.0.x and all UI seems to be in "bold" ?
I confirm that this issue doesn't happen when DBVis runs with JDK 1.6.0 (1.6.0_45 in my specific case). Thanks for the tip.
