Access Web database

Hi I'm new on DBvisualizer, so sorry for this "stupid" question ... Can I access from my local Mac the mySQL database stored on my web host server ? So instead of login into the web server aund using phpmyadmin to do some checks on the database, do same remotly on local dbVis ? phpmyadmin URL is something like: https://[[server]]/phpMyAdmin/tbl_structure.php?db=[[db name]]&table=lep_mod_wysiwyg&server=1&target=&token=[[token]].... Thanks for info Wolfgang P.S. I used search on this forum but did not find anything usefull. Maybe I used wrong search words .... Edited by: Wolfgang Studer on 17.11.2013 17:03

Re: Access Web database
Hi I got solution in the meanwhile What I was needed to do 1) on the webservers config I had to allow the mysql database to be accessed from outside 2) in DBvis connection I had to use "Server Info" instead of "Database URL" Might be helpfull for other newbies too ;-) Thx Wolfgang

Re: Access Web database
Wolfgang, You did it all right. Allowing SSH access to the MySQL instance is what is needed on the server side. In DbVisualizer Pro setup the connection with Server Info and the SSH feature enabled. Thanks for sharing. Regards Roger

Re: Access Web database
Wolfgang, I was under the impression you got SSH working already? Check the following for more info: http://confluence.dbvis.com/display/UG91/Using+an+SSH+Tunnel Regards Roger

Re: Access Web database
Hi Roger I'm sorry but looking into your link I feel more confused ... I do not have in my Mac OS/X 10.9 DbVisualizer 9.1.2 version the SSH settings on my connection. I do not even have Tools->Tool Properties -> Database Connection -> SSH Settings .... Does it mean now, that I have to do something first to generally enable SSH on my OS/X ? Or is it depending on the DB server ? Or ... ???? Btw: I assume you ment SSH usage due to the https link in my first post. This https link is used with phpmyadmin when I connect via browser. In DbVisualzer, I just created a connection ... Thx for your patience Wolfgang Edited by: Wolfgang Studer on 20.11.2013 14:45

Re: Access Web database
Wolfgang, Sorry, I thought you were using the DbVisualizer Pro edition which include the SSH support. If you don't have a license for the Pro edition, sign-up and give it a try using Help->Evaluate Pro Edition. Regards Roger
