Unable to upgrade to 10.0.3 (mac OS)

I am currently using 10.0.2, DBVIZ gave me the option to upgrade, and it downloaded the dmg, mounted it and executed the installer.

I selected 'Yes, update existing installation' and clicked next.

In the next window EULA appears, with 'I do not accept the agreement' selected. At this stage I cannot do anything, I can't accept the agreement nor click the back or cancel buttons. The installer just hangs. I have to force quit the installer and everytime I get stuck at the same position.

I have a log it generated to send to Apple, however I haven't attached it here as it is around 1mb in size, and it might contain some private details.

Let me know if you need more help on this.

Hi Imran,

Which macOS version do you use? I just upgraded on High Sierra (10.13) without problem. Please try and download the installer from our web site and try again:

I am on El Capitan (10.11.13)

I downloaded a fresh copy and had the same problem.
I think it has to do with my environment. Any mouse interactions with the installer causes the installer to hang up. I ended up doing an install using just the keyboard and the upgrade went through. At the last step I accidently used my mouse to press the next button and the installer hanged, I forced quit it but thankfully the update was complete.

Odd, but glad you were able to upgrade eventually. Do you have any Accessibility features enabled? We have seen strange behavior sometimes with Java when using Accessibility features.

Best Regards,

Hans

No, no accessibility features enabled. All of a sudden things are getting slow so I think I just need to restart my mac. You can close this ticket, I believe it is just my machine and environment.

Same issue with 10.0.4, I run out of memory if I try to click in the installer with a mouse, but works fine using the keyboard.

Hi Anders,

Another customer reported a similar problem and tracked it down to a third party window manager application named Moom, and specifically the Move & Zoom when dragging a window to a display edge or corner feature in the Mouse category.

Do you also have Moom or a similar application installed on your Mac?

Best Regards,

Hans

Interesting, I have Right Zoom installed:

Hi Imran,

Does disabling it make a difference?

Best Regards,

Hans

No zoom application here, but I use Magnet (http://magnet.crowdcafe.com)

Hi Anders,

Magnet looks like a windows manager type application as well. Does disabling it resolve the issue?

Best Regards,

Hans

Okay I was finally able to disable Right Zoom (it involves restarting your machine, which I couldn't before), and today's update of 10.0.5 I was able to install without any problems.

Same problem, running Magnet. Haven't tried disabling it, just dragged app to Application folder using tar download, seems to work ok.

Hi,

There is now a preview version available of DbVisualizer that hopefully fixes the lagging problems using a 3:rd party desktop utility on macOS.

If you have a moment it would be great if you can try a pre-release which bundles Java 9:

http://www.dbvis.com/temp/dbvis_macos_10_0_7_jre.dmg

Once installed and running confirm the version 10.0.7 build 2830.

Please let us know the results.

Regards

Roger

Did not work any better, but I discovered that if you select the app in question and then click the magnet icon you can click 'Ignore "App"' (in this case 'Ignore "Db Visualizer"') and then it does not freeze for me.
